Awards

This beautiful book won the Guild of Food Writers (UK) COOKERY BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARD 2003 and I was presented a huge smooth wooden hand made dish that says 'Cookery Writer of 2003' How cool is that? You can imagine how I carried it across the seas from London to Mumbai!

Happily I have just heard that it has been nominated for the 2003 Ladles Award by the Jacob Creek World Food Media Awards in Australia. It was chosen among 1,000 books from around the world under the 'Soft - Cover' category.

Reviews

'This is the perfect book for anyone who loves Indian food but is a short-fuse cook and likes fast results and minimum effort in the kitchen. I was particularly tempted by rishta, lamb meatballs made with ground fennel and turmeric and danedar dal, using peanuts and flavoured with brown sugar, but settled on this lovely curry.'

My Memories of this Book

What can I say about this book? It had been a twinkle in my eye for a long time when my publisher and friend Kyle Cathie okayed it. It went on to win the 'Cookery Book of the Year 2003' award and brought many good and exciting projects my way. It was also a dream to write because it is about Indian cooking that's right down my alley - fresh, fast and fabulous! Super to look at as well.
